Staff Attorney Ricardo Simmonds has a wealth of experience in the nonprofit sector, both from serving as a charity regulator at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and as in-house counsel at the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Ricardo’s experience has given him a unique perspective that allows him to analyze issues of nonprofit law from the viewpoint of both the nonprofit and regulator. He’s a believer in ensuring nonprofits take proactive steps to prevent snowballing problems and enjoys helping nonprofits develop and follow best practices for risk management. Ricardo provides a wide array of legal services and advice for nonprofit organizations, including legal advice on day-to-day concerns, compliance issues, and regulatory investigations.
