Soma Church was built around the idea that the gospel changes everything. Change became a big part of the church, as the church grew from one location to three.
“As time went on and those churches became more established, they were ready to branch out on their own,” said Grant Buenger, the Director of Business Administration for the church. “ One of our lead pastors heard about Charitable Allies so we reached out.”
They were interested in establishing the two other locations as their own 501c3 nonprofits legally. To begin the process, Grant and the lead pastors spoke with experienced Charitable Allies attorney Robert Miller.
“We had a discovery call with Robert so our lead pastors could hear how it would work. It was really helpful. He made it clear what we could expect.” said Grant. “Robert is really clear, direct, and consistent with his communication. He clearly demonstrates legal and professional acumen that makes you trust what he’s doing.”
With the help of Charitable Allies, Soma Church is registering their two new locations as their own 501(c)(3) organizations so they can continue to spread the gospel and make a positive impact in the Indianapolis community.
“It’s often scary for most nonprofit leaders. They have little confidence in what needs to happen legally to get things done correctly. It’s like another language. And it can prevent or delay the good work they want to do,” said Grant. “Charitable Allies is doing this in a way that helps people at a price that works for us.”
When asked what he would say to a nonprofit thinking about seeking help from Charitable Allies, Grant had one final thought.
“It’s as good as it sounds. You’ve found good people. You’ve come to the right place,” he said. “Their mission is to support you as a nonprofit.”
